Weather and Packing for Detroit

Detroit weather rarely surprises us, because we live in it. From November through March, Detroit orders get a 72-hour heat pack and a foam-insulated box, same as anywhere else in the Great Lakes region. The good news is that the short transit distance means there are very few weather days when we'll have to hold a Detroit order. Even in a cold snap, one business day of Ground transit gives feeders far less exposure than the 2 to 3 day rides out to East Coast metros. Detroit customers almost never need Next Day Air for winter protection, because Ground with heat packs is usually enough.

Summer humidity is worth mentioning. July and August can push UPS trailer temperatures well above 100°F, so we swap heat packs for reusable cool packs from late May through early September on Detroit orders.
