Hornworm Diet (Powder)

Hornworm Dry Food 

This dry diet is a powder form and will make approximately 4 times its weight when cooked, 1 packet dry equals approximately 1/2lb. 1 packet dry equals 2.7lbs cooked. 

Cooking Instructions for Hornworm Food

1. Stovetop Method:

   1. Boil 4 cups of water for every 1/2 pound of hornworm food.
   2. Once the water reaches a FULL ROLLING BOIL, gradually add the dry food packet, stirring continuously with an electric hand mixer or whisk.
   3. Keep mixing on the stove until the powder is fully dissolved and evenly mixed, ensuring NO CLUMPS remain.
   4. Remove from the stove and continue to mix for an additional 1-2 minutes.
   5. Transfer the mixture to your desired container and allow it to set at room temperature, which will take about 1-2 hours.

   Microwave Method:

   1. Pour 4 cups of water into a microwave-safe bowl for every 1/2 pound of hornworm food.
   2. Heat the water in the microwave until it starts to boil — this may take several minutes depending on the microwave.
   3. Carefully remove the boiling water and, while stirring, slowly add the dry food packet.
   4. Mix thoroughly with an electric hand mixer or whisk until there are NO CLUMPS.
   5. Let the mixture cool slightly, then continue to mix for another 1-2 minutes.
   6. Pour into the desired container and allow it to harden at room temperature for 1-2 hours.

   Final Step for Both Methods: The hornworm food is now ready to use. Proceed to add eggs, feed your worms, etc.
